The Helen, GA, area has a long and rich history that stretches back to the earliest days of American settlement.  Many don’t know this, but it was even the site of the first major gold strike in North America!  It was later overshadowed by the bigger California and Yukon strikes, but Helen has truly made its mark on America. We aren’t kidding.  In Helen, Oktoberfest begins in mid-September, and doesn’t end until Halloween.  That’s roughly six weeks of nonstop German festivities, traditions, gastrophones, wines, sausages, plus of course… beer.  And lots of it.

Our annual parade kicking off the celebration is world-renowned, featuring most of the town and the surrounding areas.  It’s less a parade and more a movable party, one which eventually winds its way over to the Hellen Festhalle, which becomes Oktoberfest Central -and primary mead-hall – for the next several weeks.
