Summer Fun in the North Georgia Mountains
There are many interesting destinations you can visit in North Georgia during the summer fun months. There is just no shortage of it!

Here are some of the nice places to visit in North Georgia during the warmer months and have that summer fun in the North Georgia mountains. Some of these items are ‘off the beaten track’, so you might be able to enjoy hanging with the locals instead of the crowds.
1. Feel like watching a movie outdoors? Watch a movie at one of Georgia’s last drive-in theaters
Established in 1955, Swan Drive-in Theater is one of the four drive-in theaters still operating in Georgia. This is at 651 Summit St, Blue Ridge Georgia, and is a single-screen drive-in theater. If you visit their website you can find what movies they are going to show. This is perfect for a romantic date night or night with the family. Please make sure to bring cash with you.
2. Go tubing through Alpine Helen
Shoot the ‘hootch! Summer months are the best when it comes to tubing! Tubing in Helen, Georgia along the Chattahoochee River is a rite of passage and a must thing to do while in the Bavarian city. The tubing season typically starts in May around Memorial Day weekend and can last until mid-October depending on the weather.
3. Try one of the longest swinging bridge
A 270-foot-long swinging bridge over the Toccoa River near Blue Ridge, the Swinging Bridge over the Toccoa River is a popular destination for day hikers. Providing short and pleasant walks, the trails to access the bridge are located on each side of the river. It is the longest swinging bridge east of the Mississippi River.
4. Visit the waterfalls at the Amicalola State Park
A gorgeous 729-foot waterfall, the Amicalola Falls is the highest in Georgia. The State Park is set in a rolling and vibrant-green southern Appalachian Mountains. No wonder it is one of the popular places to visit in Georgia!
5. Explore the mountains and hills through ziplining
What better way than watching views from the top? An exciting way to explore the vast mountains, hills, and forests of North Georgia, ziplining allows you to go through scenic landscaping and aerial bridges. This is a fun activity for families!

Old Car City, the world’s largest known classic car junkyard, is located in White, Georgia. The junkyard is family-owned and operated.
9. Fruit picking because why not?
Mercier Orchards is a 300-acre orchard where you can pick your own seasonal fruits. It is the best place for fruit picking in the state which started way back in 1943.
10. Swim in the most picturesque mountain lake in the state
Lake Blue Ridge is a 3,290-acre lake where 80% of its shoreline is sitting in the National Forest. You can swim, kayak, paddleboard, or do any water activity.
11. Family fun at the Lilly Pad Village
Take your kids to The Lilly Pad Village where you can do gem mining, fishing, and mini-golfing in a scenic mountain atmosphere. Your kids will love it!
