Helen, Georgia

Visit the bavarian alpine village this spring! The area is called "Georgia's Outdoor Adventure Destination". You can go hiking, visit the waterfalls, or shop in Helen.

The best times to visit Helen, Georgia is from March 26 to June 3 or September 3 to November 4 although every day of the year is perfect to go! The Bavarian-style buildings are filled with restaurants and shops. Check out Charlemagne's Kingdom, the world's largest Alpine model railroad museum. One of the area's original wineries, Habersham Winery holds an annual wine fest where they showcase over 20 wineries. People can taste wine and enjoy live music. 

After a long day of exploring Helen, you can head back to your cabin and roast some marshmallows. 

Albany, Georgia

Albany is not only home to music icon Ray Charles but also has no shortage of attractions to enjoy. Chehaw Zoo is 700 acres of pristine and conservation land you can visit. If you want to watch a live presentation beneath the brilliants stars at the Wetherbee Planetarium. The Flint RiverQuarium and Imagination Theatre features a unique blue hole spring with more than 120 mysterious creatures.

And if you want science fun, a special train adventure, and a planetarium show, the Thronateeska Heritage Center is a good place to go. The Riverfront Park features the Turtle Grove Play Park and Dino Dig, Tot Lot, and fountain. With breathtaking landscape and one of Georgia's seven natural wonders, Radium Springs Gardens pours 70,000 gallons of water a minute into the Flint River.

Augusta

Go hiking to the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park or kayaking at the Augusta Canal National Historic Area Headgates. The Augusta Canal is an urban green space and one of Augusta's most treasured historical attractions. The Savannah Rapids Park and Pavilion are popular in the spring and a great way to spend an afternoon soaking up the sun. There is also an annual Garden Festival in downtown Augusta. 

Athens, Georgia

A 313-acre preserve with plenty of attractions, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens is worth a visit. The Oconee Rivers Greenway, which goes right through Downtown Athens, has paved trails like the Firefly Trail. Athens has plenty of wonderful nature trails for families, even with young children. Mountain bikers will enjoy the trails at Walker Park.

Another spring activity favorite is visiting the Piedmont Gardener's Garden Tour of Athens. 

Blue Ridge

Go fruit picking at the Mercier Orchards. Lilly Pad Village is a good place for gem mining or fishing. You can also ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway to the border town of McCaysville.

A mountain town in northern Georgia, Blue Ridge has plenty of trails through the Chattahoochee National Forest to Long Creek and Fall Branch waterfalls.

Columbus, Georgia

The Coca-Cola Space Science Center is a nice place to visit in Columbus. Ride the rapids at the Chattahoochee RverWalk. The Lunchbox Museum in River Market Antiques is a quirky place to go.
