Hiawassee Georgia

If leisure is your cup of tea, Hiawassee boasts several golf courses and resorts and spas. This area is where you will find Georgia's tallest mountain, Brasstown Bald, rising nearly 5,000 feet and offering world class views of the Appalachian valley below. Tourists can also visit Lake Chatuge and the Hiawassee River featuring year-round trout fishing opportunities. As the county seat of Towns County Georgia, Hiawassee is home to a small population of 880 people. The name of this little north Georgia city comes from the Cherokee word Ayuhwasi, which means meadow. Hiawassee is thirty minutes north of Helen Georgia.
